Hey,
Google Summer of Code is open, and it can't hurt to submit.
https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/
Gsoc pays students to poke around in open source code. It's open to
students of all types who are older than 18 -- high school through
grad school.
I've already signed us up as an org. We have until Jan 23 to
satisfy the beaurocracy, and convince them of our value.
What I need from you:
Project ideas:
GSOC wants us to have a good list of 'shovel-ready' ideas
for students. This seems to be the main criterion for getting
accepted.
https://google.github.io/gsocguides/mentor/defining-a-project-ideas-list
If you have cool ideas, projects that you wish would happen
but don't have time to do, or things that you think would
be really helpful, please propose them!
Mentors:
We've got some people available for mentoring, but more mentors
are better. If you've got strong feelings about how a project idea
should be done, speak up and volunteer as a mentor.

Applicants:
Well, someone needs to do the work. We'll know if we get accepted
as an organization by Feb 12th. If we do get accepted, we'll want
applicants.
